Trailer Tuesday: Trouble With The Curve

After a short break, there's already a ton of new exciting trailers to look at, but today I decided to focus on one, the trailer for the upcoming film Trouble With The Curve, starring Clint Eastwood, Justin Timberlake, and Amy Adams. I give my thoughts on whether the film will clear the fence or not, after the jump.
The trailer of the film is rather unclear about the plot of the movie, and while it teases, it ultimately doesn't give away any big plot points, which is something the film already has in it's favor. From the trailer the film seems to be about family, connection, and love. It seems we are about due for a feel-good movie, and Trouble With The Curve may just have come at the right time.
Most noticeably in the trailer is Clint Eastwood, who certainly seems like he will carry the film, and bring it home. While he again plays a bitter old man (similar to his role in Gran Torino), there is more to his character, and it seems even from the trailer like he perfectly encapsulates the role of Dad, and I think anyone can easily see him in the father figure role, even if he's retired from gunning down outlaws and bandits. The film also seems to have the perfect amount of heartfelt humor that can be extremely effective in a feel-good movie such as this.
The rest of the cast is surprisingly good as well, and I think this is a movie that would extremely benefit from having Justin Timberlake in the role of Johnny, as he seems to shine most in this type of film. He also seems to play oddly well off of Eastwood, even from their brief interaction in the trailer, maybe because their typecast characters exist so far opposite each other on the spectrum. Of course with Amy Adams having already exhibited an excellent performance in The Fighter, defying many of her 'ditzy girl' stereotypes, I have no worries about her ability to bring a strong performance to the plate, and I think the diverse handful of actors and actresses in the film should make for a winning team. After looking at the trailer for Trouble With The Curve, I think it could truly be a film that hits home.
